WORLD WATER DAY 2018
Wake-up Call From Eklavya School, Jalandhar On This World Water Day 2018
Drop By Drop Let’s Make A Difference.
Save water!! Conserve water!! Have you really ever??What have you done recently that has made a difference to the water level on the mother earth? If you have, then you need to do more and if you haven’t, then it’s time to start thinking about it seriously. Every year on 22nd March World water day is celebrated to make everybody aware about the water crisis on earth and to find solutions to overcome this problem.
In an increasingly thirsty world, every drop of water counts. Whether it falls from the smallest shower or strongest storm, all of earth’s water needs to be conserved to meet the growing needs of the human population. It’s how we use it that makes all the difference. So, EKLAVYA SCHOOL, JALANDHAR urges to all responsible citizens to make a difference by following some simple but effective measures.
ANSWER IS IN NATURE
Finding nature based solutions is the need of the hour. Answer is very simple- “Plant trees”.Make the surroundings green. It will solve the problem of low rainfall and eventually ground water level will be replenished.
OFFSET YOUR NEED FOR TREATED WATER
We should make efforts to reduce the need for treated water by:
- Capturing the rainfall in a cistern and using it to water the garden.
- Watering the lawn early in the morning or after the sun has set to reduce water evaporation.
LESSEN STRESS ON LOCAL WATER SYSTEM
The water usage should be reduced by installing low-flow plumbing fixtures throughout the home. It’s a tedious task but the timely efforts made will lead to sustainable development and fruits of the hard work will be cherished by the future generation.
SAVE ELECTRICITY AND SAVE WATER
Electricity accounts for 55% of all water use. So, save water by conserving electricity. Start with a simple step. “Switch off any electrical appliance when not in use. Make it a habit.”
Let us pledge this World water day that “For every drop we use, we should give one back”. Let us be the change and inspire everybody in our neighborhood to change for good and solve the problem of water crisis.
